Alan Schwartz

ALAN is an essential member of our Business Structures And Transactions and Commercial Real Estate practices. In addition to providing day to day corporate legal advice, and negotiating and drafting all types of contracts, loan documents, and real estate leases, Alan has represented our clients in all aspects of the sale and acquisition of businesses and commercial real estate. Alan also actively participates in representing clients in a variety of complex creditors’ rights and bankruptcy matters, including transactions involving the sale of assets.

Alan provides our clients with a unique perspective. Immediately prior to joining Jacob & Weingarten in 2004, Alan was involved in owning and operating a number of successful businesses; each of which he operated, expanded and eventually sold. This invaluable real world business experience allows Alan to provide a sound practical approach in representing our commercial clients.

Alan also has the ability to analyze transactions from an experienced tax perspective. Prior to his business endeavors, Alan was a partner in the tax and health care departments at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn. At Honigman, Alan’s experience included representing hospitals and other health care providers.

Alan received his law degree in 1985 from the University of Michigan where he graduated cum laude. He graduated with a B.A., with distinction, from the University of Michigan in 1982.
